William Vredenburgh for Darien's Board of Education

Meet William:

With two grown children and his youngest at Hindley, Bill will bring a wealth of public service experience to the Darien School Board. A product of top-notch public schools, he is committed to ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive in a school that both supports and challenges students. Foundational to this goal is a well-resourced, connected, transparent, and accountable school system. One that reflects the value Darien places on education and achievement. One is that, given the vast amounts of information bombarding our students from all sides, particularly social media, it emphasizes critical thinking – not what to think but how to think. And, one that will prepare our children to be productive and contributing members of society.

With more than 32 years of service to the nation, first as a West Point cadet, then an Army officer, and a career in the FBI, as well as his education (BS US Military Academy, MPA Columbia, MPP Princeton). Bill understands public service and stewardship because he’s lived it. He believes all members of the school board genuinely want what’s best for our children and are dedicated to working collaboratively to continuously improve our district.
