ALERT: CT Primary Election is Aug. 9th - PLEASE VOTE! 🗳

Greetings!

The Republican Primary Election for Connecticut is happening on August 9th... but you can vote NOW!

Your voice and your vote matter and this year, it’s exceptionally important to be heard.

Three major races are being contested on the Republican side. We humbly ask for your primary support for our wonderful former First Selectman Jayme Stevenson, as she moves to retire Jim Himes from Connecticut’s Fourth Congressional Seat. More info on Jayme’s campaign can be found HERE.

Local State Representative Terrie Wood is running in a (now) two-way primary for CT’s Secretary of the State. Terrie has ably served us for the last 14 years in the state House. We know her values and we know her commitment. She has been a terrific representative and voice for us in Hartford. She is ready to lead at the state level. You may explore Terrie’s 100-day plan and more HERE.

Please consider casting your vote for these hometown leaders, Jayme and Terrie, who are experienced and ready to take on these important roles!

Additionally, Themis Klarides is running to unseat U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal. She too is facing a primary on August 9th. You can watch her ad and learn more about her candidacy by clicking HERE.

We deeply appreciate your consideration as you participate in this vital and cherished democratic process!

HOW DO I VOTE?

You may wish to vote by absentee ballot in person at the Town Clerk’s office, by mail, or by dropping a completed absentee ballot in the ballot dropbox conveniently located in front of the Darien Town Hall main entrance, 2 Renshaw Rd. The process is easy, safe, and secure.

You do want to be sure and check your current voter registration status first! If you are unregistered or registered as Unaffiliated, you actually cannot vote in CT primaries! Connecticut is a closed primary state, meaning you must be registered as an R or a D in order to participate in primary voting.

If you’re unclear on your voter registration status or party affiliation, you can check online https://voterregistration.ct.gov/OLVR/welcome.do or visit the Registrar of Voters at Town Hall anytime Monday through Thursday, 8:30 am to 1:00 pm to check your registration status, party affiliation, register to vote or update party affiliation. Alternatively, you can check on https://www.darienrepublicans.com/ – just click “CONFIRM” to verify your CT voter registration and party affiliation. You may similarly click “SWITCH” on the Darien Republicans website, should you wish to switch your party affiliation in order to participate in this upcoming primary.

You have up until August 8th to switch your party affiliation from U to R or D, in order to gain the ability to vote in the August 9th Primary. You can always opt to switch back to U for the Fall general election, afterward.

TWO WAYS TO VOTE, TODAY…

In-Person Absentee Voting

Starting TODAY you may go to your local Town Clerk’s office to vote absentee in person, easily and securely in a matter of minutes. When voting is completed, your ballot goes into a double envelope and is stored securely until Primary Election Day when it will be counted.

OR

Absentee Voting by Mail

  1. First, click HERE to print an absentee ballot application.

  2. Second, complete the application and return it to your Town Clerk, via USPS mail.

  3. Your Town Clerk will then send you an absentee ballot via USPS mail.

  4. Finally, return your ballot in the double envelope provided to your Town Clerk prior to August 9th by mailing via USPS - OR - you may insert your ballot into the secure voter drop box outside of Darien’s town hall (2 Renshaw Road).

Connecticut’s Primary Election is vital to the future of our nation and our state — so be sure to exercise your right to vote today!

If you are unable to vote in person during the Primary Election on August 9th or the General Election on November 8th, you may vote by absentee ballot. Recent changes have made voting by Absentee Ballot safe, secure and convenient.

Make sure you make a plan to vote. The turnout in primaries is typically low - your vote matters and your voice will be heard!

Feel free to email info@darienrepublicans.com if you have any questions or require any assistance.

Thank You!
