Monica McNally for Darien's First Selectman

Vote for Monica! Monica McNally is running with her teammates, Jon Zagrodzky (Current BoF Chair) and Marcy Minnick (RTM, RTC). You can find a lot of info on all of them here, on our website (see also, biographies): https://www.darienrepublicans.com/candidates

Monica is currently serving on the Darien Board of Selectman and has a history of almost a decade serving in various capacities on the Darien RTM. She has a background in finance and is an absolute whiz with markets and budget management, alike. She is open, friendly and well-respected throughout the town she has called home for almost the last 30 years. In a nutshell, she has a unique and helpful blend of experience including expertise in the private, non-profit, and government sectors. She has a strong track record of collaboration across many of the town's boards and commissions - and she has proven her ability to navigate and unify coalitions across the aisle, in pursuit of worthy legislative goals.

While chairing the RTM Public Works Committee for three years, Monica was proud to help this committee take the lead in researching a ban on eliminating the use of single-use plastic bags. This controversial issue required the committee to work as a team on thoroughly researching the issue’s impact on residents and businesses and craft an ordinance that responded to the needs of all. This inclusive and flexible approach led to an overwhelmingly supportive vote by the full RTM.

Monica enjoyed volunteering for a variety of organizations:

  • OPUS (Founding Member)

  • YWCA Women’s Club (President)

  • Tokeneke Association Women’s Club (President)

  • Pear Tree Point School (Secretary)

  • Greens Farms Academy (Fundraising Chair)

  • Good Dog Foundation (Therapy Leader with Topper)

  • Pegasus (Animal Therapy)

  • Boys and Girls Club/Stamford

  • Cub Scouts (Leader)

Monica and her husband Mark have two grown children, Helen and Steven. They also have a pet cat and pet dog, Topper. Topper also volunteers, in keeping with the family spirit.
